The "Special Fund for Laparoscopic Surgery Training in County-level Hospitals" project of the China International Medical Exchange Foundation is based on the China International Medical Exchange Foundation, with various specialized branches of the Chinese Medical Association as the core implementation team, gathering domestic experts to regularly train doctors in county-level hospitals, and supporting some county-level hospital doctors to conduct academic exchanges or further studies in Class III hospitals, providing a learning, exchange Sharing platform to promote the development of medical technology level in county-level hospitals through talent cultivation.

Since the launch of the project, teaching activities in various regional training centers have been carried out in full swing. As a training center, the Department of Gynecology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, with the support of the China International Medical Exchange Foundation, carried out a public welfare project and held the second graduation ceremony on May 30, 2022.

Trainee training

This training session started on March 1, 2022, and completed on May 30. A total of 5 trainees were trained. The teaching tasks of the base were completed by a tutor team led by Cai Liping, Director of the Gynecology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Special training plans, theoretical/practical learning courses, assessment procedures, and practical operation exercises were developed.

Assessment content:

    1. Set up a theoretical exam and a written exam based on the theoretical teaching content, and pass the exam with a score ≥ 60 points.

    2. According to their usual performance, the group leader of the teaching and treatment team will evaluate them according to the work scoring table, with a score ≥ 60 points as qualified.

    3. Operational assessment: including laparoscopic surgery disinfection, tissue placement, instrument connection, and pneumoperitoneum establishment; Laparoscopic simulator suture operation, laparoscopic simple ovarian cyst removal, appendectomy, salpingectomy, myomectomy, etc., are scored according to the evaluation and publication, with a score ≥ 60 points as qualified.

    4. The total score is theoretical assessment (30%), operational assessment on simulator (40%), and surgical assessment (40%). Students can only be issued a completion certificate after passing the assessment.

After three months of study, all five students have passed various theoretical examinations, operational examinations, and daily work examinations throughout the training process. After systematic study, the students have gained a full harvest, gained a deeper understanding of gynecological laparoscopic technology, and improved surgical techniques, enabling them to carry out laparoscopic surgery for common gynecological diseases.

Graduation ceremony

At the graduation ceremony, the teacher and the students communicated enthusiastically. The students expressed their gratitude to the hospital and the department for their hard work. Through this study, they not only learned and improved endoscopic techniques, but also felt the rigorous academic attitude and professional excellence of the clinical teaching teachers in the hospital. In particular, they would like to thank the teaching teachers for their hard work. In the future, they will not forget their teacher's kindness, bear in mind their instructions, apply what they have learned, and benefit patients.

Director Cai Liping, the person in charge of the Gynecology Base of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, issued a certificate of completion to the students and said that our training base would regularly communicate with each student to understand the implementation of laparoscopic surgery, and provide necessary technical support to help them develop their skills and carry out their work. If there is a deliberate violation of the continuing education agreement or operating procedures leading to medical accidents, the certificate of completion will be withdrawn.

The implementation of this project provides a learning and communication platform for doctors in county-level hospitals. It is an important measure to implement the national medical and health system reform with practical actions, promote hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, provide intellectual support for the development of medical technology and medical and health undertakings in grassroots hospitals, and is a practical matter to improve the level of grassroots medical care and public health. The Gynecology Training Course of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, as one of the "National County Hospital Laparoscopic Surgery Training Centers of the Chinese Medical Association" of the China International Medical Exchange Foundation, undertakes the training task, which is of great significance for deepening the cooperative development of medical consortia and improving the talent cultivation of county hospitals.
